Our Story: The SHESHAWLS Journey
SHESHAWLS is a Malaysian Muslimah brand that makes instant shawls, khimar and everyday modest essentials for women who want to cover beautifully without slowing down. It began as a small family business at home in 2010. Today it lives on as SHEE by SHESHAWLS. This is our story: how we started, what we learned, and the values that still guide every piece we make.
How SHESHAWLS Began
Every brand has a beginning, and ours was humble. A living room, a little fabric, a very small amount of capital and a family willing to work hard together. Every scarf was photographed, posted, packed and sent by hand, and the business grew one satisfied sister at a time. In those early days it was simply called Shawls House.
We did not have a big plan. We had a simple wish: to help Muslim women look neat and feel comfortable in their hijab, every single day.
The instant shawl that changed everything
A few years later came our first original design, a simple instant shawl that could be worn in seconds with no pins. It spread mostly by word of mouth, from one sister to another, and it became the piece that put SHESHAWLS on the map. That success taught us something we still hold on to: when a design solves a real problem, women share it with the people they love.
Growing Up: The SHESHAWLS Journey
As the family grew into a team, SHESHAWLS met customers face to face at expos and roadshows across Malaysia, opened boutiques and introduced more of the instant styles our sisters asked for. Not every year was easy. There was a season when we held on to old designs for too long and the market moved on without us. Alhamdulillah, we came through it humbler, with one lesson written on our hearts: listen closely to our sisters and keep improving.
From instant shawl to khimar
Our next step was the khimar, a longer hijab that covers the chest and back. At the time it was not common in Malaysia, and most were imported. We chose to design our own and to show that fuller coverage could be just as easy to wear as an instant shawl. One of the stars of that range is the khimar you can read about in our journal: the story of Safya Clipe, the khimar with our under-arm clipe.

How We Design at SHESHAWLS
We believe a Muslimah should look neat at all times. When she is well put together, she quietly shows the beauty of Islam to the people around her. So every piece we make has to be kempt, practical and beautiful.
Practical first
Our sisters care for families, go to work and serve their communities, often all in one day. That is why most of our collection is made up of instant styles that go on in seconds, with no pins and no fuss.
Beauty within syariah
Women love beautiful things, and there is nothing wrong with that when beauty stays within the limits of syariah. We design pieces that are polite, appropriate and lovely enough to draw a new generation towards covering properly. Read more about haya in Islam in our journal.
Innovation in every piece
Each design starts with a real problem, such as a shawl that slips, a pin that snags or a khimar that lifts in the wind. Then we build the answer into the piece itself. That thinking is what led to the clipe in our khimar range.
Doing Business as Da’wah
Over the years, something beautiful happened. Some women who did not yet cover their hair tried our instant shawls, felt comfortable, and began wearing the hijab. Later, many sisters who wore shorter headscarves moved to the khimar with confidence. For us, this is the real success: doing business while doing da’wah.
We have also chosen to grow without riba, building the company without interest-based loans. It is a slower path, but we believe barakah is worth more than speed.

Today our small team works from Kajang, Selangor, and serves sisters across Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and beyond.
