Safya Clipe: The Khimar That Stays in Place
Safya Clipe is the khimar we designed for sisters who want full, graceful coverage that stays in place, whatever the day brings. It drapes long over the chest and back, slips on in one movement, and has a discreet snap clipe that fastens under the arm. Once the clipe is secured, the khimar keeps covering your aurah in strong wind, through ruku’ and sujood, and even on a motorbike or on horseback. In this article we share the story behind the design, how the clipe works, the fabric and size, and how to style it from the office to the masjid.

What Is Safya Clipe?
A khimar is a long hijab that falls over the head, shoulders, chest and back in one flowing piece. It is one of the most complete forms of covering, but many sisters find that a traditional khimar does not always stay where it should. A gust of wind lifts the back panel, the fabric slides forward when you bow in prayer, and on a motorbike the back can flap open behind you. Pins help a little, but they are easy to lose and can tear delicate chiffon.
Our design answers those everyday worries with one simple idea: a small snap clipe, sewn neatly into the khimar, that fastens under the arm. It joins the front and back panels at the side of the body, so the long drape is anchored instead of hanging loose. The front stays over the chest, the back stays down, and your aurah stays covered while you move, pray, ride or carry a child.
Clipe is a word we created at SHESHAWLS for this small, hidden fastening. You will see it throughout our khimar range, and it is where Safya Clipe gets its name.
The Story Behind Safya Clipe
To understand where this khimar came from, it helps to know a little of our history. SHESHAWLS began in 2010 as a home business, and our first original design, the Simple Instant Shawl, sold more than 400,000 pieces because it was quick and easy to wear. Practicality has been part of our DNA ever since.
From the end of 2019 we began championing the khimar in Malaysia. At that time most khimar on the market were imported, and many sisters felt a long hijab would be difficult to manage. We wanted to prove that longer coverage could be just as easy as an instant shawl. By the end of 2020 we had designed more than fifteen khimar styles. Along the way, sisters kept telling us the same thing: they loved the coverage of a khimar, but worried about it lifting in the wind or shifting during solat. The clipe was our answer.
The name says it all. Safya speaks of purity and calm, and Clipe tells you about the clipe that keeps it secure. You can read the full journey of our brand on our About SHESHAWLS page.
How the Safya Clipe Under-Arm Clipe Works
The snap clipe sits at the side of the khimar, under the arm, where the front and back panels meet. Once it is fastened it is hidden by the drape, so nobody sees it. Here is how to wear it in four simple steps.
Step 1: Wear an inner first
Start with an inner or anak tudung to keep your hair in place. This also helps the chiffon sit smoothly on the head.
Step 2: Slip the khimar over your head
It is a single-loop, slip-on design, so there is nothing to wrap. Pull it over your head with the longer panel at the back and let the front fall naturally over your chest. Tie the chiffon strands at the back if you like a neater, more fitted look around the face.
Step 3: Fasten the clipe under your arm
Find the snap clipe at the side, bring the front and back panels together under your arm, and press the clipe closed. The drape is now anchored at the side of your body.

Step 4: Smooth and go
Run your hands down the front and back to settle the fabric. That is it. Most sisters tell us it takes only a few seconds once they are used to it, and the clipe opens just as easily when you want to take the khimar off.
Why the Clipe Matters: Coverage That Stays
A long khimar is only as good as its coverage in real life. These are the moments the clipe was made for.
Heavy wind
On a breezy day, an open-sided khimar can lift and fly up at the back or the sides. With Safya Clipe fastened, the front and back panels are held together, so the wind moves the fabric gently without exposing your aurah.

Ruku’ and sujood
When you bow and prostrate, a loose khimar tends to slide forward or fall to one side. The clipe keeps the back panel in place and the sides closed, so you can pray calmly without reaching to fix your hijab between rakaat. That is why we call it a snap button for ease of ibadah.

Riding a motorbike or a horse
Riders know the feeling of a hijab flapping open behind them. Because the back is anchored at the sides, it will not wave open while you ride, whether you are on a motorbike on the way to work or on horseback for sunnah sport.

Safya Clipe Fabric and Size
Safya Clipe is made in Pearlux, a premium pearl chiffon with a subtle sheen that catches the light softly. It is double layer for full coverage and rated at opacity level 3, which means it is totally opaque and does not need a second layer to cover the neck. Even so, it stays lightweight and cooling, which matters in our climate. The edges are finished with a detailed baby seam for a clean, refined look.
It is cut in size XXL, with an extra long front and back, so it reaches well down the body for sisters who prefer generous coverage. The soft chiffon awning frames the face, and the comfortable face opening lets you breathe and speak easily. If you are unsure about length, our Size Guide lists the measurements, and our team is always happy to help you on WhatsApp.
If you prefer a softer, matte finish, look at Seyra Clipe, which has the same under-arm clipe in our Softlux chiffon georgette.

What Sisters Say About Safya Clipe
We are grateful for every review our sisters leave. One customer who bought a clipe khimar in size XXL wrote:
Memang semenjak pakai khimar Sheshawl ni, dah tak tukar tudung lain.
In other words, since she started wearing our khimar, she has not switched to any other hijab. Across all our products, SHESHAWLS holds a 4.9 out of 5 rating from more than 3,500 reviews on Shopee, and many of those reviews mention how comfortable, neat and easy our khimar are to wear.

How to Style Safya Clipe
For work
Wear it in black over a loose blazer or a long cardigan and a simple dress. Keep accessories minimal and let the clean, long drape do the talking. The clipe keeps the front tidy through meetings and the commute.
For majlis and Raya
The pearl sheen of the chiffon already feels dressed up, so pair it with a flowing abaya and handsocks in a matching shade for a polished, fully covered look.
For ibadah, travel and an active day
Because the clipe keeps everything in place, this khimar is comfortable for solat, tazkirah, umrah, the school run and a ride on the motorbike. Many mothers love that it stays put while they carry little ones.
Caring for Your Khimar
Safya Clipe is machine washable. To keep the chiffon looking its best, use a gentle cycle with cool water, close the snap clipe before washing so it does not catch, and hang to dry in the shade. Iron on a low heat or steam lightly, keeping the iron away from the clipe.
Safya Clipe FAQ
Will the clipe feel uncomfortable?
The clipe is small and sits at the side, under the arm, beneath the drape. Most sisters forget it is there after a few minutes.

Yes. On a calm day indoors you can wear it open like a classic khimar. Fasten it when you head out, pray or ride.
Can I wear it with a niqab?
Yes. Many sisters wear it with a separate niqab. If you prefer a built-in face veil, look at our Veilora khimar.
Is it good for hot weather?
The pearl chiffon is lightweight and cooling, so it is comfortable for long days outdoors.
How long is the pre-order?
Some colours are made to order and ship within 7 to 14 days. The product page will always show this clearly before you pay.
